Ending textile landfills will take more than an automatic textile grading and sorting machine… but it’s a start.

Everything began with Globedrip, a B2C thrift shop Achille ran for several months. Running the shop, he realized firsthand how time-consuming it was to manually digitize clothes piece by piece. This is the reason Trosort was born: to digitize secondhand clothes quickly and automatically.
After building a first prototype with his former colleague at Destore, Matthieu, Achille called a textile sorting center to see if the technology could help in the industry.
“Come and visit us,” said the owner. Inside the sorting center, Achille saw enormous volumes of clothes being processed almost entirely manually.

What struck him wasn’t inefficiency; it was how many sorting decisions were made in an instant with limited information. Every day, sorters decide whether textiles are reused, recycled, or incinerated based on their experience and intuition; no data, no unified market knowledge, just careful judgment over and over.

Achille and Matthieu visited other sorting centers after that, across different countries, and found the same reality: massive volumes and limited information.
That’s when Trosort's mission shifted. After seeing it with their own eyes, Achille and Mtthieu understood the true scale of secondhand clothes and realized that the flood of low-quality textiles would only continue to increase.
Digitizing clothes wasn't enough anymore; they felt they had to do more. That is how they came up with Sort Mate, a machine to augment sorter’s capabilities.

"Empowering the textile industry with the data and automation needed to sort more efficiently. We help sorters maximize the value of every garment to build a truly circular economy."
